Bringing a newly purchased yacht home to Bodrum, moving her to a winter berth, repositioning for a sale — each raises the same question: who do you trust with the boat?

The skipper’s background: 28 years in the Turkish Coast Guard and Navy; command experience from high-speed KAAN-class patrol boats to an 88-foot water-jet motoryacht; over 100 Turkish ports and dozens of foreign ones; thousands of hours underway and hundreds of search-and-rescue operations. How a delivery runs

The route is planned against weather windows with refuge ports pre-identified; fuel, water and stops written into the plan. Papers and insurance conditions are checked before departure and port formalities handled en route. The vessel gets a technical check before casting off, you receive live position updates underway, and on arrival she is handed over with a short delivery report covering engine hours, fuel state and passage notes.

What sets the delivery apart

The biggest risk in a delivery is the boat leaving before she is ready to leave. If the skipper does not know the boat, the fault is discovered at sea.

So a short technical check precedes every delivery: the ECU is read for pending fault entries, the cooling and fuel circuits are gone over, bilge and fire equipment are tested and the navigation electronics are run up. The person carrying out that check is also a qualified marine mechanic and master instructor — the person who can deal with a fault that appears on passage.

A surveyor’s delivery

What separates this service is that the vessel’s condition is documented at handover — both ends. The surveyor’s eye stays open the whole passage: any anomaly noticed underway (vibration, temperature, a weep) is noted and reported. For many owners, that delivery report has been their boat’s first honest health record.

Duration and fee
