Yacht Valuation
The vessel's real market value, grounded in technical findings — a reasoned valuation for sale, insurance or legal use.
- Value given as a reasoned range, not a single number
- The report states which finding moved the value, and which way
- Engine condition confirmed from the ECU record, not from claims
- Accepted for insurance, probate, litigation and bank collateral
- Supported by comparable sales data
A yacht valuation combines the technical condition of the boat with current market data to produce a reasoned value range. It is used in sales, insurance, probate and legal proceedings. The work takes one working day.
Why valuation starts on the boat, not at a desk
Listing sites show what sellers ask; what a vessel is worth is set by its condition today. Two boats of the same model and year — one with a documented maintenance history, the other with widespread hull moisture — can differ in real value by a substantial share of the asking price. That is why the valuation begins on board.

What the inspection covers
Hull, deck and keel joint are examined, with moisture readings and percussion testing documenting the laminate. The engine’s running behaviour, vibration and service history are assessed; electrics, navigation electronics and comfort systems are scored for age and function — a long equipment list full of dead gear lowers value rather than raising it. Accommodation condition, damp and mould indications, and the validity of safety equipment and certificates complete the picture.

What sets the valuation apart
The two items most argued over are the engine and the hull, and both turn the report into guesswork when they are assessed from claims.
- The engine is judged from its record, not from claims. The ECU is read for true running hours, their distribution across rev bands and the fault history. “Lightly used” becomes a number here.
- The hull is measured. Moisture readings and a hammer survey surface the hidden defects that reduce value most.
- Equipment that does not work lowers the value, it does not raise it. A long equipment list is not what carries value — working equipment is; each item is scored for age and function.

How the value is derived
Technical findings are combined with age, brand, length, specification and comparable sales data. The result is a reasoned value range — the report states which finding moved the number and in which direction. If you are selling, it is how you defend your price; if you are buying, it is your negotiation brief.
