Ashore or afloat — how should a boat be laid up for winter?
Storing ashore costs more but opens a maintenance window: antifouling, anodes, shaft and hull work all fit the same period and the hull dries. Afloat is cheaper but the hull stays wet, and a spring survey then needs its own lift.
Why it works this way
The decision should be taken together with next season’s maintenance plan rather than on storage price alone.
