Can a Hunter cross an ocean — is it a blue water boat?
Hunters are optimised primarily for coastal and short offshore passages. Hull weight and stability ratios may meet CE Category A, but they are less comfortable on long ocean passages than heavy-displacement, full-keel designs.
Why it works this way
A CE category is a design limit rather than a recommendation: it says a boat can withstand those conditions, not that she will be comfortable in them. Before any ocean plan the rig, keel bolts and bilge capacity deserve a survey of their own.
