Buying and Selling
How do you recognise and avoid fraud when buying a boat?
Fraud has one common denominator: urgency. A price noticeably below the market, payment requested before viewing, resistance to a survey. A seller who will not permit a survey is the clearest warning of all.
Why it works this way
Paying through an escrow account and verifying the registry entry closes most of the remaining risk.
