How is a moisture meter used in a survey and what do the readings mean?
A single reading tells you nothing; what tells you something is the distribution. The hull is divided on a grid, a reading is taken in each cell and the values are plotted into the report as a map. Fast scanning is done with a Skipper 5 and suspect areas are confirmed with a Wetsoon Pro.
Why it works this way
The map shows whether moisture is widespread or confined to one area — the distinction that decides what a repair will cost. It also gives a baseline that can be measured again in a few years.
