Is a deposit refundable in a boat purchase?
The contract decides. Without a clause making the purchase conditional on a satisfactory survey, a deposit usually cannot be recovered.
Why it works this way
The survey condition therefore belongs in the preliminary agreement from the start. An independent, measurement-based report gives both sides the common ground a dispute needs.
