What is a gulet and how is one surveyed?
A gulet differs from a production boat in its timber construction and often in its local building tradition, so a standard GRP checklist falls short. The inspection focuses on rot, caulking, corrosion in fastenings and the keel-to-frame joints.
Why it works this way
In commercial use a gulet also has to clear a separate threshold for seaworthiness and life-saving equipment. That widens the survey scope well beyond what private use would require.
