How does surveying an aluminium boat differ from GRP or timber?
In aluminium the principal risk is not rot but galvanic corrosion: every point where dissimilar metals meet, a wrong anode arrangement or a stray current is a potential failure site. Bonding continuity, anode consumption and shore power are therefore measured separately, and plate thickness is mapped point by point with ultrasonic readings.
Why it works this way
None of these steps has an equivalent in a GRP survey, and the moisture map that matters so much in GRP has no meaning here. Same scope, different instruments.
